Legal Drug

From CLAMP Wiki

Legal Drug (Gouhou/Lawful Drug) is an unfinished manga by CLAMP which currently stands at 3 Volumes. It takes place in the "main" CLAMP world which is also seen in the series xxxHolic and Kobato.

[edit] Plot

Legal Drug revolves around the drugstore, the Green Drugstore, which is owned by Kakei. The main employees are Kazahaya Kudo and Rikuou Himura. Together they do "odd jobs" for Kakei which often deal with the supernatural, while they both are bothered by their past.

[edit] Characters

Kazahaya Kudo - The protagonist of the series. Kazahaya joins the Green Drugstore early in the series when he was discovered dying on the sidewalk by Rikuou. He can easily be bribed with money and is often teased by his co-workers for amusement. Although he claims to not like Rikuou he gets along with him rather well. Kazahaya has the ability to see the memory of things he touches which is a gift that is often needed on the missions.

Rikuou Himura - Rikuou is Kazahaya's co-worker, roommate and partner on their missions. His primary focus is to find a woman from his past name Tsukiko and it's unknown how he came to the Green Drugstore. Although he's the more serious one of the two, he does take delight in teasing Kazahaya. Rikuou has the power to break things (ie. locks) which comes in handy during their missions.

Kakei - The owner of the Green Drugstore and the one who hands out missions to Kazahaya and Rikuou. Kakei has the ability of precognition but it does not work on those who are more powerful than him. According to Kakei, the reason he opened the Green Drugstore was so that Kazahaya and Rikuou would one day meet.

Saiga - Kakei's lover who can usually be found napping around the store during the daytime. Skilled in domestic areas, Saiga enjoys cooking and sewing, he's also good at gathering information and has been trying to find Tsukiko for Rikuou.

[edit] Publication

Legal Drug ran in the magazine Asuka from 2000 to 2003 when it was placed on hiatus by CLAMP. Although it is currently not known when the series will be removed from the hiatus status, CLAMP has often expressed a desire to continue it in the near future.

All three volumes have been released in English by Tokyo Pop.
